How does Thermo-Brace Sheathing compare to OSB and ZIP System?

ZIP System consists of an OSB board added to insulation foam, whereas Barricade Thermo-Brace SIB consists of a Thermo-Brace panel attached to BASF’s Neopor foam.

These systems are comparable in end use, but Barricade Thermo-Brace SIB serves as a 4-in-1 sheathing solution. This provides benefits like cost and labor efficiency and faster, easier install. See product benefits outlined on our Thermo-Brace SIB page.

When comparing a standard ZIP panel with no foam to Barricade Thermo-Brace lightweight sheathing, Barricade serves as a direct alternative for ZIP. Test data in comparison with a wooden structural panel can be found in our DRJ reports on our Downloads page.

What insulation properties do your products provide?

Our Thermo-Brace SIB provides S.M.A.R.T. insulation through BASF Neopor® GPS: stability and durability, moisture-management, adaptability to cool climate zones, resource efficiency and third-party validation and certification.

Does your standard Thermo-Brace have an R-value?

It has an R-Value of 0.2. Foil facings are available for additional reflective R-Value.

Are your sheathing products tested for seismic ratings?

Yes, our Thermo-Brace sheathing products are tested to meet ANSI/AWC SDPWS: Special Design Provisions for Wind and Seismic standards. You can view the DrJ Technical Evaluation Reports for all our sheathing products by visiting our Downloads page.

What is the Perm rating on your standard Thermo-Brace?

Our Perm rating is less than 1.

Do your sheathing products work for roof decking?

No, they do not.

Can Barricade Building Wrap be used under stucco?

Yes, Barricade Building Wrap can be used under Stucco. Keep in mind when applying, some localities require 2 layers of House Wrap under Stucco.

Can you use Barricade Building Wrap as a rock driveway underlayment?

Yes, it can be used as underlayment for a rock driveway. Barricade Building Wrap will let water drain through slowly while preventing grass from growing up through the material. If you are using this for a driveway wider than 3′, our technical team recommends overlapping the product at the seams or using our 5′ Building Wrap roll.

Can Barricade Building Wrap be Painted?

Painting Barricade Building Wrap will not damage the product. However, we cannot guarantee the paint adhesion.

Can Construction Seam Tape be applied in cold weather?

Yes, the Application Temperature range for Construction Seam Tape is 14°F – 122°F and, once applied, the Temperature Resistance range is -40°F – 212°F. You can find additional specifications by visiting our Downloads page.

Can I request customized products?

If you plan on purchasing our MOQ, we can customize sizing and printing on our house wrap but can only provide sizing customization for our sheathing products.

If you are a small contractor or builder, please reach out to your local distributor as they typically handle these requests.
